Notes

Pachacuti - organized the huacas in the ceque system. Sarmiento / Niles

Villca Umu - chief priest of Sun Temple at the time of the conquest.

Hanansaya - upper moiety in Cuzco. Contained Chinchaysuyu (NW), and Antisuyu (NE).

Hurinsaya - lower moiety in Cuzco. Contained Collasuyu (SE) and Cuntisuyu (SW).

Cuzco and country divided into 4 suyus and 42 ceques.

ceque clusters - ceques grouped into 3s.
-1. collana: best, principal, prestigious. great grandparents and descendants.
- 2 payan: paya, grandmother. grandparents and descendants.
- 3 cayao: similar to cayan - spleen, origin, base. Immediate siblings and parents.

Ceque numbering and organization. locations of mythic events, sapa inca palaces, locations of life events, land boundaries, marked irrigation systems, mountain passes, astronomical sight points.

Ceque Lines
- Maybe similar themes of Nasca lines.
- straight: sight lines. Zuidema/Bauer
- some not straight: symbolic. In Antisuyu some zigzag, but do not cross each other. Niles/Bauer

Numbering and Naming
Developed by Rowe 1980. Order given by Cobo.
- Co 9:13 . Co (suyu) (ceque #) : (huaca #) . Collasuyu, ceque 9, huaca 13.

Huacas
- 96 are springs or sources of water.
- 95 are standing stones.
- 32 are hills or mountain passes.
- 28 are royal Inca palaces and temples.
- 28 are fields and flat places.
-10 are tombs, 7 are ravines, 3 caves, 3 quarries, 3 stone seats, 3 sunset markers, 2 trees, 2 roads.

Manco Capac's syblings who turned to stone
- An 7.4, Ch 1.1, Ch 9.6, Co 1.6, Co 2.3, Co 6.1, Co 6.7, Co 7.5, Co 7.6, Cu 5.1, Cu 7.1, maybe Co 5.4

Pururaucas
15 stone huacas related to Chanca War. The Chancas attacked Cusco and #8 Inca Viracocha Inca. He flees Cusco. Pachacuti usurps his father and heir to fight back. The stones of Cusco rose up to fight with him. These were called Pururancas.

- Except those starred, most are in or near Coricancha.

Pachacuti huacas
- Mostly in Chnchay, none in Hurin Cusco.

Movable
Many huacas were movable and carried into battle. Tupa Inca was said to have gathered all huacas in Cusco and then questioned them. Poma/Bauer

Panacas
Families of Inca rulers.
1. Manco Capac: descendants: Chima.
2. Sinchi Roca: Raurau. grouped with non-royal Masca and Quesco to Cunti.
3. Lloque Yupanqui: Hahuanina
4. Mayta Capac: Usca Mayta
5. Capac Yupanqui: Apu Mayta. grouped with Sutic, Maras, Cuycusa to Colla.
6. Inca Roca: Vicaquirao
7. Yahuar Huacac: Aucaylli
8. Viracocha Inca: Sucsu
9. Pachacuti Inca Yupanqui: Hatun
10. Topa Inca Yupanqui - Capac. grouped with nonroyal: Chavin Cuzco, Arayraca, Uro to Chincha.
11. Huayna Capac - Tumi Bamba. not in ceques.

Ayllus
- Sauasiray Ayllu - Also called Sutic Ayllu. Came from Sutictoco cave at Tambitoco. Settled in area around Coricancha. Molina and Sarmiento/Bauer
- Antasayac Ayllu - Also called Quesco Ayllu. Founding ancestor was Quesco, settled in Santa Clara area of Cusco. Molina/Bauer
- Ayar Ucho Ayllu - Also called Alcaviza or Arayraca Ayllu. Descent from Manco Capac's brother, Ayar Ucho, in Pucamarca, in center of Cusco.

capac cocha - offerings brought to Cusco, then distributed to huacas. (cacha guaes). Molina/Bauer
