Vilcabamba Maps

This website is dedicated to study of the Vilcabamba region of Peru - a place of exciting Incan discovery.

In reading books about this area, I found it difficult to remember what areas are where and what those areas are famous for. So I decided to create an interactive map. Some locations were on some maps but not on others. So finding a certain location meant jumping from book to book and going to the library. So I decided to make it easier and more efficient.

This is a great map for following along in your book or study of the Incas.

Satellite Maps
I am in the process of upgrading the map. This new one uses Google Map technology. Visually it's more appealing and the user has greater navigation control. Ultimately this map will contain the same information as the Composite Map.

Composite Map
I decided to take one map and use it as the base map. Then mark the locations not on its map but that are on another. Rollover locations to learn more about it. And click the locations to see a photo of it. The maps will continue to grow as I read more books. This is the older of my two maps - not as pretty but it contains a ton of locations.

Bibliography
This website is for educational use only and not intended to take advantage of current excellent publications. I update the bibliography regularly. I have found it very difficult to find books and maps - if you've found a handy resource or tips or have photos of places that I dont, please let me know at andy@andyroscoe.com .

(Comparison Map)
This map is a comparison map. You can compare two maps at the same time. Compare the current political map to Bingham's map published in National Geographic in 1912. I found that everyone's maps were not to scale or mistaken in their scale - so overlapping maps became confusing and not so helpful.

You will need Flash Player 6 to be able to use the maps.
